Amestris[]
Caster (AKA: Lina Inverse)[]
A famous hero from some ages past, now summoned into Dagaria's latest Holy Grail War, summoned by Roy Mustang. Caster's actually reasonably good at keeping control of her name, unlike some of the war's competitors. She is motivated by, in loose order, food, greed, and fighting evil to fulfill the second and then first interest.
- Anti-Hero: Takes multiple meanings with Caster - not the least of which is that, as a straightforward caster of powerful destructive magic, she is almost thematically opposite to the usual Caster summoned into the war.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Steal her kills, will you, Rip Van Winkle?
- Embarrassing Middle Name: Variant. Lina The Pink remained part of her legend, to her chagrin. Her user name used to have it, but was changed to a metajoke between multiple Lina Inverses on Dreamwidth.
- Fantastic Nuke: Caster's C-Rank Noble Phantasm, Dragon Slave.
- Up to Eleven: Caster's A-Rank Noble Phantasm, Giga Slave - which requires her B-Rank Noble Phantasm, the Demon's Blood Talismans, to cast. (Yes, she has four Noble Phantasms.)
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Part of what made Caster legendary enough to become a summonable servant. Most particularly, she's revered among spellcasters as a teacher. (Yes, she did actually teach sorcery classes in the novels!)
- Little Miss Snarker: Particularly aimed at Cornelia Li Brittania.
- Person of Mass Destruction: The other part of what made Caster legendary enough to become a summonable servant.
- Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Which pretty much means she's screwed when it comes to the Grail War, thanks to the Nanoha cast...
Jin Kisaragi (Dropped)[]
The heir to the noble Kisaragi family and a major in the Amestrian military. His backstory lines up much like his canon self's.
- Canon Welding: Why is Jin with Amestris? Because Ishval and Ikaruga were melded into being allies in the same uprising.
- The Hunter: Is slowly evolving into this as he learns more about the Power of Order and resisting Yukianesa's influence. His targets are those he believes are "twisting" the order of the world so that natural order may be restored.
- Knight Errant: A Jerkass version of this.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: When the Major announced his plans to crack down on criminals, Jin tried to get him to leave Ragna to him. It backfired.
Roy Mustang[]
As in his canon, Roy is a colonel in the Amestrian army. However, in this variant, he's the son of a deceased noble, and as such has learned to conduct himself according to that role. He's also a Master in the Holy Grail War, having summoned Caster.
- Arranged Marriage: To Cornelia li Britannia. Oddly, despite being 29 and 27, respectively, they aren't married yet — they both kept putting it off for various reasons.
- Battle Couple: With Cornelia.
- Butt Monkey: His underlings aren't in the game (yet). Thus, he ends up the butt of many jokes, particularly when Bradley is around.
- Canon Welding: Not so much Roy as his mentor, Berthold Hawkeye. Roy's mun decided that Roy received his knowledge of the Holy Grail War because Berthold had been a Master in the previous Holy Grail War. Also counts as a Throw It In, because the mun thought it up on the spot, and hey, it works, so why not?
- Impoverished Patrician: A variant. While Madam Christmas isn't hurting for money by any means, the lion's share of the Mustang family's wealth went to Roy's father. After their death, however, it sat unused, and even now Roy himself only uses it when he needs to.
- The Lancer: Is this to Cornelia, since she outranks him...for now.
- Meaningful Name: His journal name, "king_of_flames," was selected based on a triple meaning. First, he's the Flame Alchemist. Second, he's the king in his chess motif. And third, it's a play on the name of a certain other king.
- New Old Flame: He and Cornelia are this to each other, having actually fallen in love as teenagers. Unfortunately, Ishval drove them apart...but Roy, at least, is trying to fix that.
- Straight Man: Becomes this when he interacts with Caster.
- Tricked-Out Gloves: Just like in canon, only here, they also hide his Command Spell.
- Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Cornelia. Roy is trying to resolve it.
- The Wise Prince: Since he's a noble.
Cornelia li Britannia[]
Though she isn't a true princess in Dagaria, Cornelia is still the daughter of an Amestrian noble. She enlisted in the military to follow her fiancé, Roy Mustang, only for the two to be kept apart for nearly a decade. She also participated in Ishval, and the experiences there only served to harden her.
- Arranged Marriage: To Roy.
- Battle Couple: To Roy
- Break His Heart to Save Him: Sort of. The intent is there, but she's doing so by giving him her honest thoughts rather than lying.
- Broken Bird: What she regards herself as.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Has put up a wall of ice around her heart due to Ishval and her experiences fighting Rift monsters. Roy is trying to make this happen, but only time will tell if he succeeds.
- Four-Star Badass
- Knight Templar Big Sister: Is very, very overprotective of her sister. She doesn't approve of her engagement to Athrun at all, and would have been authorized to invade Zeon if Terenas hadn't been assassinated and Avshar hadn't taken over Zeon and Imperial City.
- New Old Flame: To Roy. Unlike Roy, however, she's attempting to resist it — not because she doesn't care about him, but because she feels they're both too broken for it to work.
- Tsundere: She may not show it, but she still cares for Roy a lot. She nearly attacked Caster when Roy experienced the pain from obtaining his Command Spell, and has recently been using Caster to be her eyes and ears to watch over Roy. But to the man himself, she constantly gives trouble.

A stern, but not unkind Magistrate. Supposedly the son of a country patrician and his elven mistress, he appeared only recently and rose up quickly through the murky politics of Rome to the position of Magistrate. Known as the Black Hound, he is a merciless dispenser of Justice, applying the law to both Patricians and Plebes.
- Authority Equals Asskicking - like all of Nero's people, he's skilled in battle and administration.
- Badass Bureaucrat - He can hit you with the book both figuratively and literally.
- Bi the Way - It's Rome, dear.
- Character Alignment - Lawful Neutral, verging on Lawful Good
- Dance Battler - His combat style is a version of Capoeria with added acrobatic moves.
- Half-Human Hybrid - His mother is an elf and his father is a human
- Original Generation
- Secret Identity - He's not any sort of noble at all, but an orphaned street performer who took some money and his acting skills to worm his way into politics
- The Red Baron - The Black Hound. Known as Nero's pet dog to her detractors.
Sawa[]
Archer (AKA: Signum)[]
Hayate Yagami's loyal magical knight summoned from the past, masquerading as a normal young woman. Yes, yes, "how is this an Alternate Universe"? This time, she's Servant Archer in the Holy Grail War.
- Double Knockout - The result of her battle with Assassin.
- Failure Knight - Wolkenritter x Nasu = angst.
- The Fettered - was specifically ordered not to kill people, and is fine with that. Of course, heroic spirits neither die nor are people. There's a meme in that somewhere.
- Friendly Enemy - once she decides you aren't a threat to Hayate, she'll loosen up a fair bit.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia - like all good Archers, Signum only half-remembers her past until it becomes relevant to the plot.
- The Mario - her "stats" are decidedly average, especially compared to speed demons like Lancer or killing machines like Assassin.
- Ninja Maid - she's "incognito" as Hayate's tutor.
Takamachi Nanoha[]
Will you be her friend?
An average little girl who's been teaching herself magic with a little help, Nanoha comes upon records of the Holy Grail War and it horrified at what some people would do to win. When she learns that another one is starting up, she does the only thing she can do to minimize civilian involvement: become a Master herself.
- Cheerful Child
- Child Mage: To Ky's horror.
- Go-Karting with Hayate
- Living with the Villain: Nanoha is a magnet for these.
- Never Hurt an Innocent: The reason she joined the Grail War is that some participants wouldn't follow this, and she's doing her best to protect the uninvolved.
- Oh Crap: When Caster spotted her Command Spell.
- Sword and Sorcerer: The Sorcerer to Saber's Sword, though they both have pretty good magic.
- Take That: Her username is "ihu2carl". Carl Kimlinger of Anime News Network is a reviewer known best for despising all things Moe who wrote a rather notorious review of the first season of Nanoha's canon. (You could not even mention the show on ANN for months afterward.)
- Troubling Unchildlike Behaviour: Ky's reaction to meeting her and immediately realizing she's a Master.
- Unskilled but Strong: She's barely starting out as a mage.
Zeon[]
Prince Char Aznable[]
The rightful ruler of the Principality of Zeon, who took over the kingdom over the course of two television series' worth of adapted background. Seemingly the more charming and fun-loving of the Riftguard leaders, but...
- Aloof Big Brother - noted here since he's trying to rectify it...somewhat...but still trading his sister (to an admittedly decent guy) for political advantage.
- Best Served Cold
- Black and Gray Morality - initially, the gray to people like Millennium.
- Cavalry Officer - he's this because he appeared in the game before people started introducing steampunk mecha.
- Canon Welding - Char has a blonde little fireball of a sister, as usual. Unusually, her adopted name is Sara Werec, not Sayla Mass.
- Faux Affably Evil - even more so than canon. He's kind and pleasant over the Crystals one moment and ordering brutal slaughter just to blame the already-hated Millennium the next.
- Mythology Gag - it is his player's specific intent to fill in for as many Char Clones as possible in other plots.
- Manipulative Bastard - favors this over direct confrontations, due mainly to how much bigger Amestris is compared to Zeon. He lacks his canonical high ground as well.
- The Musketeer - usually fights with a sword and one-shot pistol.
- Not So Different - Char hates the Major and Avshar because they're his enemy and a traitor, respectively, but also because he knows they want the same thing he wants - wanton, awful destruction - but for less idealistic reasons.
- Officer and a Gentleman - the image he tries to maintain.
- Shipper on Deck - Appears to be one of these for Athrun and Euphemia. Of course, since this is Char, it's hard to say how genuine he supports it. Also, it's an easy way to tease Athrun.
- Social Darwinist - of a sort. Rather than the "everyone will evolve into a Newtype in space" plan he had in canon, his endgame goal is a world without laws or structures or civilization that will force humanity to evolve away from weakness and greed, or perish fighting the Rift. He is 100% against killing off people who simply appear to be weak, though. He knows better than that.

Athrun Zala[]
The son of Patrick Zala, Defense Minister of Zeon. Athrun underwent a Magitek infusion process in his infancy, which has enhanced his reflexes and given him stronger control over light magic. Loyal to his country...for now.
- Arranged Marriage: To Euphemia li Britannia.
- Chest Blaster: How the Scylla was adapted.
- Colonel Badass
- Compressed Adaptation: His planned character arc is a combination of his character arc in Gundam Seed and his character arc in Gundam Seed Destiny.
- Cultured Warrior: Very well educated and versed in the performing arts due to growing up in an area with a strong arts tradition.
- Everyone Can See It: His relationship with Euphemia.
- Innocent Cohabitation: Euphemia has been living in the Zala manor almost since she was accepted into the RP.
- Light'Em Up
- Moe Couplet: He and Euphemia are adorable around each other.
- Mythology Gag:
- He was engaged (and is now married) to a peace-loving, pink-haired princess — with the Fan Nickname of "Lacus Clone," no less.
- In canon, he served under a Char Clone. Here, he serves under the man himself.
- He was assigned to rescue his then-fiancée from dangerous territory. Athrun was given this same mission by his father when Lacus went missing in the source material.
- Officer and a Gentleman
- Overranked Soldier: He's a colonel, and he's still in his late teens.
- Patriotic Fervor
- Powered Armor: How the Aegis was adapted. It includes Phase Shift and beam blades made from concentrated light magic, but using these puts a drain on Athrun's body's mana supply.
- Rank Up: Was promoted to colonel during the course of the game.
- Red Baron: The Red Knight.
- Reluctant Warrior: Would prefer to negotiate than fight. He gets his chance to negotiate — after fighting.
- The Wise Prince
Princess Sara Werec[]
Absolutely nothing wrong here.
Char's younger sister, who has spent her life idolizing him. She wants to make the world a better place and believes he will achieve that, having absolutely no idea what he — or anyone else — really wants to become of Dagaria.
- Arranged Marriage: To Mitsunari Ishida.
- Accidental Marriage: Mitsunari didn't actually mean that he wanted to marry her... blame Light.
- Badass Princess: Yeah, she can fight.
- Big Brother Worship: Just like in canon. Called out on this by poor Mitsunari.
- Bilingual Bonus: Invoked in-universe. She knows what you said about her, Major.
- Canon Welding: Sara has an aloof ace older brother beloved by his country, as usual. Unusually, his name is Char Aznable, not Ralph Werec.
- Dual-Wielding
- Princess Incognito: Likes to just introduce herself as "Sara" on the network, omitting the whole Princess-of-Zeon bit, although she doesn't really make any effort to hide it.
- Running Gag: Seems to have become the subject of one for villains. Both The Major and Avshar have essentially called her a slut. (No, she doesn't actually sleep around.)
- Stealth Pun: Her AU is made of these. For example, she uses flyssa swords in combat (the mech she was using at her equivalent point was a Flyssa), and filling in for Sayla makes her A Little Princess.
- Shipper on Deck: For Athrun/Euphie.

Member of The Shinsengumi, a police squad stationed in Tsuwano Province.

Euphemia li Britannia (Married name: Euphemia Zala)[]
The daughter of an Amestrian noble, and Cornelia's younger sister. She has been married to Athrun Zala in the hope that they can quell some of the tension between Amestris and Zeon...if only temporarily.
- Actual Pacifist
- Arranged Marriage: To Athrun.
- Everyone Can See It: Regarding her relationship with Athrun.
- Innocent Cohabitation: Has been living in the Zala estate for nearly the entire RP.
- Moe Couplet: She and Athrun are adorable around each other.
- Mythology Gag: Her introduction into the game involved her jumping out a second-floor window and into Athrun's arms.
- Rebellious Princess: Oh, she's got a streak in her, all right. She has the tendency to sneak out of the Zala estate and walk around town and meet people — and that's without getting into the digging around she's been doing regarding Char.
- Shipper on Deck: Ships her sister with Roy. Cornelia is not amused.
- Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Of course, they're already married, but still.
The Church[]
Megaera D'Ashland[]
A young Succubus, not yet taught in the ways of hell, was summoned by a crazed Warlock who screwed up summoning her. Fatally. The result would have killed her, if it were not for a kindly agent of the Church (The soon-dropped Charlotte Aluin) who agreed to bind her as a familiar. She's now an agent of the Church Knights, and has trained in a specific form that involves rapid enchantments on her sword and whip to fight.
- Berserk Button - In the Imperial Saga universe, devils of all stripes automatically, and vehemently, hate the Rift. Any chance Megaera has to fight it, its influence, or its minions, where she believes she has a good chance of coming out on top, she will take, overriding most other concerns.
- Good Shepherd - Megaera is one of (seemingly) all too few within the Church who genuinely, sincerely believes in God and is not corrupt or in it for power. Her own faith is strong enough that she cannot let a holy symbol touch her skin, for it will burn her, in a setting where this only occurs because of faith. She is bitterly aware of the irony. She believes in doing right to the best of her ability every time, without fail.
- Nun-Too-Holy - Yes, Megaera legitimately believes in God and doing right. However, she also sees little wrong with enjoyment of her nature as a succubus as long as she does not cause harm - the balance of this has tripped her up before in background, and likely will again at some point.
- Original Generation
- Royal Rapier - Megaera's signature weapon. Elegant, classy, and perfect for channeling spells through, allowing her to face down small squadrons easily.
- Turbulent Priest - She's opposed to the Church's practices on certain issues - most particularly, its poor history with treating women fairly. This can and has (in the background) run her up against the very conservative Delacroix. So far, this hasn't been much of an issue.

The Major[]
An Amestrian major that died in battle against the vampire Alucard fifty years ago. Reborn in the body of an automaton, he involves himself in much of more atrocious acts on behalf of the Fuhrer Bradley in the hopes of starting an eternal war throughout the world. He and his vampire soldiers numbering a little over one-thousand make up the Millennium faction.
- Abusive Parents - Going with the backstory of his prototype character in Coyote here. Although, he already turned out bad without their help.
- Arranged Marriage - One with Integra Hellsing. It will be hideous.
- Ax Crazy - More blood, more carnage, more violence, the better.
- Authority Equals Asskicking - Averted hard.
- Blond Guys Are Evil
- Blood Knight - Gentlemen. He likes war.
- The Dragon - To Bradley. As long as he's given the power and opportunity to wage his wars, he'll gladly take on the rules and orders of the Fuhrer. Even though he hates him.
- Evil Plan- One is in the process at the moment. Sending out Millennium operatives throughout Dagaria to crack down on fugitives was actually a way to lure out Alucard and the Church. He gains notoriety (and backers), Alucard gains even more notoriety for killing soldiers who really have caught more wanted thugs (as well as the more than occasional civilian), and the Church takes over with its own series of inquisitions headed by Judge Frollo. This also fits into another plan that isn't supposed to happen until a month later.

- Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: He's still a piss-poor shot.
- Large Ham
- Light Is Not Good
- Manipulative Bastard - Despite being in charge of an overwhelmingly hated group, the Major keeps a lot of financial and political power. Why, he and Pope Delacroix are great friends.
- The Sociopath
- Villainous Glutton - Please don't interrupt during his mealtime.
- Worthy Opponent - The Hellsings still hold that position.
The Netherworld[]
Queen of the Netherworld Izanami[]
A revered spirit of the old, pre-Crystal King religion credited by followers of the old ways for creating either Dagaria or the whole world, She's not saying. After a lot of hilarity ensuing, she wound up as Queen of the Netherworld, the title she's currently known by today.
- A Form You Are Comfortable With - uses these one-third out of necessity, one third out of loathing of her own scarred, decaying form, and one third for the lulz.
- Anthropomorphic Personification
- Broad Strokes - her characterization and abilities are based on her appearance in Persona 4, but her background and position in the cosmology are explicitly from the original Japanese tradition.
- Dark Messiah - at the start of the game, she's toying with becoming one, since it seems like all anyone cares about is killing each other anyway, so she might as well get it all over with. That said, she's at least trying to confirm this first.
- Deal with the Devil - will offer them to dead heroes or even living people she comes across in the interests of "research".
- Evil Cannot Comprehend Good or Blue and Orange Morality- after spending millennia with only the really depressing mortal dead for company, her ideas of what mortal life is like are rather...skewed.
- Hot God - when she feels like it.
- Knight Templar - she's extremely serious about people dying when they're killed, and staying dead...unless she has a use for them.
- Manipulative Bastard - why fight when you can mess with people, use illusion magic, and all your enemies end up dying eventually anyway?
- Master of Illusion
- The Grim Reaper/Shinigami - she's in charge of them, even for souls that end up in other afterlives.
- The Old Gods
- One-Winged Angel - written outright into her combat style.
- The Underworld - the Netherworld under Izanami is a cold, dull, foggy realm of amnesia and oblivion, the afterlife for people who want to or deserve to just fade away in a morally neutral fashion.

Chizuko Mikamo[]
A Sawan noble and according to the official line, the kidnapping victim of the infamous thief Nijuu Mensou. In actuality, Nijuu Mensou was a former scientist for the Amestris military and she went with him willingly to escape her awful stepmother.
- Bodyguard Crush: Poor Red is developing one for her.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: With Garviel.
- The President's Daughter: Or in this case the thief/former scientist's. Mainly due to Amestris trying to get a hold of the WM Ds Nijuu Mensou developed for them in his former life.
Utena Tenjou[]
Formerly the champion of a bizzare and elaborate dueling game on an island near Suo-Oshima. She was created in his own image by an exiled fae creature as part of a ploy to unlock his former power.
- Changeling Tale: May or may not be true, but she suspects it is.
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: It's a literal compulsion for her.
- Cool Sword: It gets pulled out of her chest!
- The Fair Folk: End Of The World's real identity.
- Knight Errant:
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Probably deliberate.
- Loss of Identity: Her main source of angst.
